Summer re-cap 2007
Now that summer has wound to an end, I've been looking back over the pictures and thinking about our busy season. It's easy to forget just how much unfolds in a few months, so I'm going to pause and take note.
Jalen lost his first tooth. His first three actually. The toothless wonder.:)
There was lots of bubble blowing and chalk on the driveway.
Many trips to Asheville to meet friends and eat pizza at Mellow Mushroom.
The usual messy bed jumping.
Tenting it in the backyard. I think I made it until about midnight the first time. The second camp-out was without me. I love to camp, but somehow it makes more sense to sleep in a stinky, uncomfortable tent when you are actually going away from home, or onto a mountain, or someplace where your bed isn't within a few feet from the stinky, uncomfortable tent.
There were "wallermelons" and strawberries, herbs and sunflowers, hollyhocks and sun tea in abundance.
Ciara is a strawberry lover. She took great care in growing her first strawberries and loves all things strawberry now. We'll get her a strawberry bed of her own in the spring.
Rock Creek is a place we visit all year, but especially in the summer when the temps. don't cause you to go into hypothermia within minutes. This is mountain water, so "warm" is relative.;)
We love to leave Obos in the creek, sculpt sand and basically muck about.
Ah yes, summer is fine.
What I love about blogging is how I can capture the moments I savor the most. We don't have pictures of the many hours spent on other favorite activities like World of Warcraft or Club Penguin. It doesn't tell of the frustrations, the arguments about who gets the front seat in the van or all the stinky clothes we brought back from our recent FLT camp out. That's ok. Those slight irritations seem to fade into the background of our memories anyway. The vignettes of our favorite moments are what we keep.
So here's to summer '07. It was a busy one for us. One full of friends and travel and growing and happy messes. Life is good indeed.
