Learning in Freedom

Welcome to Learning in Freedom, a blog all about the learning adventures (and mishaps) of the Allen family. My four children are unschooled, following their interests and passions every day and living the lives of their choosing. The purpose of this blog is to share our every day lives (and my not-so-humble opinons) with anyone interested in stopping by. We hope this will give a glimpse of how natural learning unfolds from day to day......

Post-party happiness

I only have a few pics of all the fun we had last weekend, but here it is anyway. On Sunday, we had a surprise birthday party for Laura at Austin's house (no pics of that!). She had no idea and was so overwhelmed it made her cry!! We ate so much good food, danced, drummed, talked and birthday-wished ourselves silly.

We had so much fun...Kelli and Alice's crew all came into town along with our local families to celebrate her special day. On Monday, the "Chocolates" (better known as the Traaseths) and Bowmans came over to our house to extend the fun. It was a gorgeous day so we just swirled in and out of the house, talking and eating and jumping and swinging....

Silas ran some static electricity experiments.

La and I getting in the required photos-we-take-of-ourselves.

Samuel, Kyra and Karina enjoy the swing up by the woods.

Everyone soaks up that lovely sunshine....

Sierra had been feeling cruddy since Sunday and missed a lot of the activities, but she wanted to see everyone so she laid on the couch and absorbed all the goings-on.

Our next-door neighbor friend Payton, brought over her teacup chihuahua puppies to show everyone.

Dang they're the cutest things ever!

Then it was time for goodbyes....the "Chocolates" headed back to Georgia and La's family went home for some much needed rest. By the time everyone left I could feel a heaviness in my chest (no, not that sad kind...the flu kind) and knew I was coming down with something nasty.

By late Monday night I was sick...still fighting it today and boy does it suck! I don't DO sick, don't these germs know? Apparently they didn't get the memo. My friends Echinacea, Goldenseal and Garlic are trying to get the message through.:)
