Learning in Freedom

Welcome to Learning in Freedom, a blog all about the learning adventures (and mishaps) of the Allen family. My four children are unschooled, following their interests and passions every day and living the lives of their choosing. The purpose of this blog is to share our every day lives (and my not-so-humble opinons) with anyone interested in stopping by. We hope this will give a glimpse of how natural learning unfolds from day to day......

Biltmore

This shot is from our visit to Biltmore in December. We were just back at Biltmore for a visit with my sis Robin and her daughter Rylee last week. It's been a whirlwind of activity around here! After the day at Biltmore we took off for Gatlinburg where we spent two days shopping, swimming and having a generally fabulous time. Note: I wrote a brief article titled "learning at Biltmore" that will run in the next issue of "Connections" ezine.

Amidst all the fun expeditions, there was work of course. I had an interview for the Product Specialist position right before heading out to Gatlinburg (I got the position). Here's a couple shots of the project I turned in for the position:

It's a color line titled "Estrellas de Noche" in which the main inspiration behind the colors was Vincent Van Gogh's "Starry Night". It took an amazing amount of time to complete, but I was pretty happy with the final results. Thanks to my model Sarah and photographer Scott Swarner who made the project truly fabulous!

Spent yesterday trying to reclaim my house which looked like a cyclone hit it. :)
